Understanding and Designing Serviceguard Disaster Recovery Architectures

Table 5 Extended Clusters support for HP-UX 11i v3 (continued)
Notes for Extended Cluster SupportVolume ManagerRevisionProduct
RAC 10gR2, 11gR1, or 11gR2 using ASM mirroring over
raw devices. This configuration is allowed by HP and
ASM over raw
disks
A.11.19 – A.11.20
supported by Oracle. Contact Oracle for ASM mirroring
configuration requirements, distance limitations and number
of nodes supported. If using ASM mirroring, HP recommends
that you use 11gR1, or 11gR2 rather than 10gR2, because
ASM on 11g has features that enhance data replication
across sites.
Serviceguard A.11.18 and CVM/CFS 5.0 only. Supports 2,
4, 6, or 8 nodes for distances up to 100 KM. Requires the
patches, PHCO_38412 and PHKL_38413 or later.

1
Support for LVM and VxVM in SGeRAC is the same as that provided by the equivalent
Serviceguard revision.
2
Support for LVM and VxVM in SMS is the same as that provided by the version of Serviceguard
contained in the SMS product.
3
Support for LVM, VxVM, and SLVM in SMS is the same as that provided by the versions of
SG/SGeRAC contained in the SMS product.
NOTE: There is a common bundle for Serviceguard, SGeRAC, CVM and CFS together for the
A.04.00.01 and A.04.01 SMS versions. Therefore, SMS with Serviceguard, CVM and CFS without
SGeRAC are not available with A.04.00.01 and A.04.01 SMS versions.
Benefits of Extended Distance Cluster
This configuration implements a single Serviceguard cluster across two data centers, and uses
either MirrorDisk/UX or Veritas VxVM mirroring from Symantec for data replication. No
