Designing Disaster Recovery Clusters using Metroclusters and Continentalclusters, Reprinted October 2011 (5900-1881)

setting up the Remote Copy links, see 3PAR Remote Copy User Guide available at: http://

Each node in the Metrocluster must have TCP/IP connectivity to both local and remote 3PAR
storage systems. HP recommends you to provide redundant network paths between the cluster
nodes and the 3PAR storage systems.
For each node in the site, there must be at least two alternately routed fibre channel paths to
the local 3PAR storage system.
NOTE: The maximum number of SSH connections to a 3PAR storage array is 16.
Configuring an application in a Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy
environment
After you set up the hardware and verify the infrastructure requirements as specified in the section
“Infrastructure Requirements” (page 314), for both the sites, you can install and configure the
software.
To configure an application in a Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy environment:
1. Install the required software on all nodes in the Metrocluster.
2. Create the cluster.
3. Setup the replication using 3PAR Remote Copy.
4. Setup the user to perform Remote Copy operations by Metrocluster.
5. Define storage units.
6. Configure modular Metrocluster package.
Install the required software on all nodes in the Metrocluster
To configure an application in the Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy environment, you must
install all the required software products and related patches on all nodes in the Metrocluster.
For information about the software required and supported versions, see Serviceguard Disaster
Recovery Products Compatibility and Feature Matrix (Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy) available
at http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs –> HP Serviceguard Metrocluster with 3PAR
Remote Copy.
Creating the Cluster
To create the cluster or clusters, see the procedure described in the Managing Serviceguard manual
available at http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs. For a Metrocluster, create a single
Serviceguard cluster with components on multiple sites. For Continentalclusters, create two distinct
Serviceguard clusters on different sites.
Setting up replication using 3PAR Remote Copy
It is assumed that you have already created one or more Serviceguard clusters for use in a disaster
recovery configuration.
To set up replication in a Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy environment:
1. Ensure that the 3PAR storage systems are correctly cabled to each host system that runs
packages whose data reside on the storage systems. You must create corresponding host
definitions on each storage system. For more information, see the 3PAR Management Console
Online Help or the 3PAR CLI Administrator’s Manual available at: http://www.hp.com/go/
saw or contact your HP representative.
2. Create Remote Copy Volume Group
Before creating Remote Copy volume groups, you must create volumes on each storage system
separately through the normal volume creation commands. The volumes must be of the same
