For more information on this failover policy site_preferred_manual, see the Designing Disaster Recovery HA Clusters Using Metrocluster and Continentalclusters, September 2010 document available at http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Metrocluster. IMPORTANT: The Manual Site Switching feature is supported only with Serviceguard version A.11.20, and only when the patch PHSS_41225 or later is installed.
Support for Remote Command Device Starting with this version, Metrocluster with Continuous Access XP includes support for remote command device. A remote command device is a device to which a command device in a remote XP array is mapped. A remote array P9000 RAID Manager must be configured using the remote command device. Using a remote array RAID manager instance, it is possible to get the status of the device group on the remote XP array even when the remote hosts are inaccessible.
Some delay in package startup time occur in those situations where resynchronization of data from one side to another is required. For example, if the Metrocluster package fails over to SVOL side and if there is a Continuous Access link failure, it performs SVOL takeover(SSWS). After Continuous Access link recovery, if the Metrocluster package fails back to PVOL side, it resynchronizes the data from the SVOL side to the PVOL side.
Serviceguard Cluster and Package Configuration Via Serviceguard Manager or System Management Homepage Starting with HP Serviceguard Manager B.03.00, available in Serviceguard A.11.20, the following Serviceguard Manager operations are supported in a Metrocluster environment: • Configuration, monitoring , and administration of Metrocluster modular packages. • Monitoring and administration of site aware clusters.
