NiMH Batteries The NiMH batteries in the battery module are continuously recharged through a trickle-charging process whenever the system power is on. Under normal operating conditions, the battery module lasts for three years before replacement is necessary. IMPORTANT: The battery module may have a low charge when it is first installed. In this case, a Power-On Self-Test (POST) message 1794 is displayed when the server is powered up, indicating that the battery module is temporarily disabled.

3. Remove the riser cage assembly. a. Flip the latch lever to release the latch (1). b. Lift the riser cage ejector (2). c. Slide the assembly toward the server wall (3). d. Lift the assembly out of the server (4). 4 4 3 2 1 4. Attach the 35-cm (14-inch) battery module cable to the connector on the battery module. 5. Snap the battery module onto the four standoffs on the chassis.

. Route the battery module cable through the power cable retaining hooks (1), and connect the other end of the cable to the connector on the system board (2). 1 7. Replace the riser cage assembly. Installation is complete.
