Driver installation procedures IMPORTANT: This Support Software CD contains the minimum software revision levels necessary for initial setup and configuration. Additional deliverables and future updates that support the product and the server into which it is installed can be found on the SmartStart and Support CD.
A blue screen appears with the following message: S=Specify Additional Device ENTER=Continue F3=Exit 3. Press the S key. If a menu appears, use the arrow keys to scroll to Other and press the Enter key. IMPORTANT: Do not remove the diskette from the drive until instructed to do so. 4. When prompted to insert the manufacturer-supplied diskette, insert the Windows driver diskette and press the Enter key. NOTE: For instructions on creating a driver diskette, see "Creating driver diskettes (on page 15)." 5.
After operating system installation To install the driver after installing the operating system: 1. Insert the Support Software CD into the CD-ROM drive. 2. At the System Console, enter: volumes 3. At the System Console, enter: load :\Netware\cpqdploy.nlm 4. Follow the on-screen instructions for installation. 5. When a screen displaying the installed software appears at the end of the installation, press Esc to exit the HP ProLiant Component Installer Utility. 6.

6. Select the proper RPM for the current operating system and install the RPM by entering (on a single line): # rpm -ivh cpq_cciss--...rpm 7. After a successful installation, reboot the server. 8. Verify that the drivers loaded properly by entering the following at a console prompt: # lsmod Results should look similar to Module Size Used by Not tainted vfat 9.
If running LILO as the Boot Loader, perform the following: 1. Using a text editor, open: /etc/lilo.conf 2. Using similar syntax, add cciss to the bottom of the list, ensuring that you do not remove any preexisting entries: image=/boot/vmlinux-2.4.18-3smp label=hp-SAxxxx initrd=/boot/hp-initrd-[kernel version].img read-only root=/dev/[boot device previously listed] 3. Save and close the file. 4. From a console prompt, run: # lilo 5. Reboot the system. 6.
To install the driver during the operating system installation: 1. Boot the server from the operating system installation CD. The text-based Welcome screen appears. 2. At the console prompt, enter: linux dd The system prompts you for the driver diskette. NOTE: If linux dd is not entered during the brief interval when the prompt is displayed, the installation must be restarted. 3. Insert the driver diskette and press the Enter key twice.
NOTE: For servers that have a setting MPS Table Mode, set the setting to enabled in the ROMBased Setup Utility (RBSU). You must manually disable this setting to complete an installation of SUSE Linux by completing one of the following procedures: Option 1: Disable ACPI in the operating system installation. 1. Boot the SUSE Linux installation CD. 2. With the Installation option selected, type acpi=off in the boot options field. 3. Continue with the installation.
7. After successful installation, reboot the server. 8.
cciss 23392 3 During operating system installation NOTE: For instructions on creating a driver diskette, see "Creating driver diskettes (on page 15)." To install the driver during the operating system installation: 1. Boot the operating system installation CD. The first installation screen appears. 2. Press the ALT key (or, on newer SUSE systems such as SLES 9, press the F6 key). The system displays the message: Please get your Driver Update Floppy ready.
The software installs ACU. 3. Repeat these steps to install ACU on each server, as needed. For more information on using ACU to configure logical drives and arrays, see the HP Array Configuration Utility User Guide available on the Documentation CD shipped with the controller. Installing ACU for NetWare operating systems To install ACU (CPQONLIN) on NetWare operating systems: 1. Insert the Support Software CD into the CD-ROM drive. 2. At the System Console, enter: volumes 3.
5. Click Agree. 6. Click Create Driver Diskette. 7. Select the appropriate operating system. 8. Click OK and follow the on-screen instructions. Diskettes for Linux operating system NOTE: Valid entries for notes in the steps below. • Red Hat Linux • SUSE Linux Creating diskettes on a Linux system To create a driver diskette for Linux on a Linux system: 1. Insert the Support Software CD into the CD-ROM drive. 2. Open a console prompt. 3.
5. While doing the copy, rename the image file to a name that complies with DOS naming conventions (eight-letter name and a three-letter extension). The RAWRITE utility will not work if this is not accomplished. 6. Run RAWRITE.EXE and follow the on-screen prompts.
