5. Install the cache module.
IMPORTANT: For the P830 controller, connect the battery
cable before installing the cache module.
6. Install the back cover on the controller, ensuring it snaps into place:
IMPORTANT: Skip this step for the P830i controller.
o P430 Smart Array controller
o P431 Smart Array controller
o P830 Smart Array controller
7. Install the DIMM connector cover, ensuring it snaps into place.
8. Install the debug port cover, ensuring it snaps into place:
IMPORTANT: Skip this step for the P830i controller.
o P430 Smart Array controller
o P431 Smart Array controller
o P830 Smart Array controller
9. Clean the surface with an alcohol wipe and apply the
tamper-evident tape in the indicated areas:
IMPORTANT: Allow alcohol to evaporate before
applying the tamper-evident tape.
IMPORTANT: To ensure that the correct tape is used, see
"Identifying tamper-evident tape patterns (on page 1)."
IMPORTANT: Use the guide marks on the back cover to
apply the tamper-evident tape.
o P430 Smart Array controller (tamper-evident tape B)
o P431 Smart Array controller (tamper-evident tape C)
o P830 Smart Array controller (tamper-evident tape D, E, and F)
o P830i controller (DL580 Gen8 server) (tamper-evident tape F)
10. Install the controller in the server.
IMPORTANT: The tape is fully tamper-evident after 24
hours. However, evidence of tampering transfers
immediately after the tape is applied.
11. Install any other components that were removed.
12. Install the access panel.
The installation is complete.
