Troubleshooting with sautil
NOTE Before troubleshooting with the sautil command, run STM. The diagnostic information STM
provides will augment the information provided by the sautil command. See “HP Support
Tools Manager (STM)” on page 78, for details.
By issuing the sautil command without any options, the sautil help screen with command options and
syntax, will be displayed:
# sautil

<device_file> download_ctlr_fw <fw_image>
<device_file> download_dev_fw <fw_image> <channel>:<target>
<device_file> reset_ctlr
<device_file> scan
<device_file> start_recovery
<device_file> accept_media_xchg <logical_drive_number>
<device_file> set_transfer_rate <rate>
<device_file> stat
<device_file> clear_stat
<device_file> get_trace_buf
<device_file> get_fw_err_log [-raw]
<device_file> clear_fw_err_log
<device_file> get_disk_err_log <channel>:<target> [-raw]
<device_file> get_pci_header

where “<device_file>” is the controller’s device file, e.g., /dev/ciss5
“-N” (optional) displays persistent device files
“-s” (optional) displays a shorter output
“<fw_image>” is the firmware image file to download
“<channel>:<target>” is the channel and SCSI ID of the physical
disk, e.g., 4:12
“-raw” (optional) displays the raw data buffer
“<rate>” is auto, async, sync, ultra, ultra-2 (or ultra-160 for
controllers that support Ultra-320)
