Online Installation of a Smart Array 6400 Series Controller
To install a Smart Array 6400 Series controller in a slot that supports OL* or OLAR, follow these
steps:
1. Confirm that the minimum recommended version of the ciss or driver (Smart Array
Controller software) is installed on your system.

2. Install the Smart Array Controller in your HP-UX system according to the procedure
described in the latest edition of the Interface Card OL* Support Guide for 11i v2 or v3, or
Chapter 2, “Managing PCI Cards with OLAR” in the latest edition of the Configuring HP-UX

TIP: For best performance, install the Smart Array Controller in a PCI-X 133 MHz slot or
in an available PCI 4X slot.
