In the example, /dev/ciss4 and /dev/ciss7 are the device files for the Smart Array 6404
Controller. Each device file is associated with one of the 2-channel controllers in the Smart Array
6404 Controller. Run the sautil command with each device file to update the firmware on both
halves of the controller. The example also shows that the device file for the Smart Array 6402
Controller is /dev/ciss6.
Determining the Smart Array 6400 Series Controller Firmware Version
The firmware version that is in the ROM on the Smart Array Controller can be determined by
using either the sautil <device_file> command (extensive output), or the sautil
<device_file> -s command (shortened output).
An example of the sautil <device_file> command output is provided in “The sautil
Command” (page 56).
Enter the sautil <device_file> -s command to provide an abbreviated listing of
information for the Smart Array Controller and all connected devices, including the firmware
version currently in ROM.
