SAN Zoning Overview
IMPORTANT: Depending on your license, Provisioning Manager may not be available. See the
“List of Features” to determine if you have access to Provisioning Manager. The “List of Features” is
accessible from the Documentation Center (Help > Documentation Center in Storage Essentials).
Use SAN zoning to control what can be seen in the storage area network (SAN). SAN zoning lets
you group elements into zones, which can then be grouped into active and inactive zone sets.
Only elements in an active zone set can be seen. A switch fabric can have multiple zone sets, but
only one zone set can be active.
Zones are an excellent way to split hardware resources because they work by exclusion. For
example, you can set up your switch ports so that elements connected to some of the ports appear
