HP SIM
If you are only deleting elements discovered through SMI-S, you only need to delete them in HP SIM.
If you are deleting elements not discovered through SMI-S, you must delete them from HP SIM and
from HP SE.
1. To remove elements from the SIM database:
a. Click Systems in the left pane.
b. Select the elements you want to delete.
c. Click Delete.
2. Rediscover the elements you removed. Select Options > Discovery. Refer to the HP SIM
documentation on the different parts of discovery.
HP SE
1. To remove elements and their access points:
a. Go to the Get Topology Information page for the Topology (Tools > Storage Essentials >
Home. Then, click Discovery > Topology in the upper-right corner).
b. Click the button corresponding to the elements you need to remove.
NOTE: An element may be listed more than once in the table if it was discovered through
multiple access points. You must delete all of its access points by removing all the entries of
the element in the topology table. You may end up removing other elements from the table as
well. For example, if a CNT switch was used to discover host_A and host_B, you will end up
removing host_A and host_B from the topology table. You will obtain information about your
elements again, once you perform Discovery Data Collection/Get Details in the next step.
2. Rediscover the elements you removed. Select Tools > Storage Essentials > Home. Then, click
Discovery > Setup in the upper-right corner. Provide the authentication information for your
elements, as described in ”Discovery Steps” on page 31.
Step 10 - Perform Discovery Data Collection/Get Details
Perform Discovery Data Collection/Get Details for all elements to repopulate the
database.Discovery Data Collection/Get Details is also required to repopulate information for
Brocade switches. Use one of the following methods:
• Discovery from HP SIM - Click Options > Storage Essentials > Discovery > Run
Discovery Data Collection. Then, click Get Details.
