Deleting point-in-time snapshots
Use the following instructions to delete the point-in-time snapshots from the repository
server. Keep in mind, if you delete a snapshot, you will be unable to use it for future
recoveries.
1. From a command prompt, run the vssadmin list shadows command to identify the
snapshot you want to delete. The snapshot will have a GUID(globally unique
identifier) and a creation date and time. Make a note of the GUID. For more details
on snapshot identification, see your VSSdocumentation.
2. Browse to the Storage Mirroring Replicate snapshot directory. By default, this is
\Program Files\Storage Works\Storage Mirroring\Snapshots.
3. Browse to the path that matches the GUIDof the snapshot you want to delete.
4. Copy the full path including the GUID-named directory.
5. Use the mountvol "path" /D command to convert the snapshot into an empty folder.
For example, you might use the following command.
C:\mountvol "C:\Program Files\StorageWorks\Storage
Mirroring\Snapshots\{0e239e46-01bd-4461-b235-6cfb25f12abd}\{ef25f2b3-9749-
445b-a6 a1-c4e63d08d0be}" /D
6. You can now delete the empty folder.
