• Modification of backbone fabric ID s with 8Gb blades present o n the 4/256
SAN Director with a FR4-18i requires the switch to be disabl ed.
• If there is more than one backbone, then the backbone fabric ID must be
changed on all but one backbone in order to keep the IDs unique.

• When using the FCS Automatic Distribution feature in Fabric OS 6.x, all
switches in t
he fabric must be running a Fabric OS 6.x or later. If any switches
are running
Fabric OS 5.x or earlier, only manual distribution can be used.
• FCS switch a
utomatic distribution is supported in stric t mode and tolerant
mode.
HP branded SFPs
All 8Gb blades will function only with specificHPbrandedSFPs. Thefollowing
SFPs are the only ones supported in the 8Gb blades:
• 4Gb/s Short Wave SFP, AJ715A
• 4Gb/s Long Wave SFP – 10km, AK870A
• 8Gb/s Short Wave SFP+, AJ716A
Attempts to insert any other SFPs into the 8Gb blades will cause the specificport
to become non-functional, and will report the SFP as invalid (mod_inv). The above
listed SFPs are not supported in any devices other than B-Series 8Gb devices.
DC Director ICLs
When connecting two DC Director chassis, the universal connect of the ICLs is
now from upper to lower (they are color coded). Please refer to the following
user documentation for more details:

When connecting 8Gb capable long-distance por ts to 4Gb capable long-distance
ports
, the maximum number of buffers supported is 250.
DC Director
• DC Director power supplies operate correctly; however, at initial power on,
afaultymessagemaybeseen,followedbyahealthymessage. Disregard
the faulty message; the power supply sensor may initially fail but quickly
tran sitions to a healthy status shortly after power up.
• If the power supplies in a DC Director are in slots 1 and 3, or 2 and 4,
the switchstatusshow command will display “Power supplies monitor
MARGINAL,” even though there is nothing wrong with the power supplies.
Reposition the power supply in slot 3 or slot 4 to slot 2. With the power
supplies in slots 1 and 2, the command will display the c orrect status.
• When ICLs are used, some ports may encounter CRC errors, resulting in lower
throughput due to ICL cable tolerance.
