Chapter 3: Install PolyServe Matrix Server 18

This can be done either by rebooting the servers after you make the
partition table changes, or by manually disabling the ports on the
FibreChannel switch that connect the servers to the SAN. If using the
second method, disable the ports before making the partition table
changes, and then reenable the ports afterwards.
If you should later need to repartition a disk containing a membership
partition, you will need to stop Matrix Server before you change the
layout. While the matrix is stopped, you will not be able to access other
disks in the matrix. When Matrix Server is restarted on the server, it will
recognize the changes to the partition table. (You will need to restart
Matrix Server on each node to enable it to see the changes.)
Partition Sizing
It is important to properly size the partitions that will be used for
membership partitions. (The minimum size is 1 GB.)
12. Log Into iSCSI Targets (iSCSI Configurations
Only)
Log into each iSCSI target via the iSCSI initiator and set the iSCSI Initiator
Properties. On the Log On to Target dialog, be sure to check
Automatically restore this connection when the system reboots.”
You will need to complete this step on each server.
13. Run the mxcheck Utility
Before installing the matrix software, it is important to verify that the
servers configuration meets the requirements for running Matrix Server.
You can use the PolyServe mxcheck utility to do this.
The utility performs the following checks on the server:
System check: hardware, operating system version, service pack
version, available physical memory.
Network check: IP network and interface assignments, forward and
reverse hostname lookup.
Storage check: Host Bus Adapters, drivers, and settings.
