4.0.0 HP Polyserve Matrix Server Release Notes (T5392-96051, March 2010)

DescriptionIssue
Matrix description cannot be reset when Matrix Server is not running
The matrix description is set when you initially configure the matrix. If you need to reset the description
at a later time, Matrix Server must be running while you make the change.

Export fails when multiple nodes are specified
When the matrix configuration is exported to multiple nodes, the export may fail for a particular
node or nodes because the FibreChannel switch is receiving too many requests. The following error
is displayed, followed by a Java exception.
com.polyserve.mxconfig.StorageException: Cannot get switch information
mxsanconf: 99.11.20.241 failed
The given host is not responding to ICMP pings.
This may be an indication that:
1) The given host is incorrect.
2) The given host is not online.
3) ICMP traffic is blocked.
Please verify that the switch port is enabled and the
IP address is correct, or if a hostname was supplied,
that it is registered with DNS. Also verify that the
FC switch and storage array are connected properly and
that the HBAs are using the correct driver version.
Workaround. Stop and restart the Configure Matrix GUI and then retry the export to the remaining
nodes.

mxcheck error message regarding conflicting network addresses is unclear
When mxcheck detects that multiple interfaces have the same network address, it reports the
following:
Failure: Check IP network and interface assignments (networks)
Interface 10006 shares a network address with interface 10008, Matrix
Server requires each interface to have a unique IP network address.
Matrix Server needs each server to have at most one IP interface per IP subnet so that it can
continuously monitor each interfaces connectivity. On the server where the error is reported, multiple
interfaces have the same network address, meaning they are in the same IP subnet, not that they
have identical IP addresses.
This can occur because interfaces are connected to the same IP subnet and get addresses in the
same IP subnet from DHCP. Either move some interfaces to different IP subnets, manually reassign
addresses in different IP subnets to the interfaces, or disable the extra interfaces.
This situation can also occur because interfaces generated their own addresses automatically. These
will all be in the 169.254.0.0 (zeroconf) IP subnet. If you want to use these interfaces on an
Ethernet segment with no DHCP server (say, for the clusters private networks), manually assign
addresses in private IP subnets (for example, 192.168.0.0) to them and/or disable the extra
interfaces.
If multiple interfaces were being used for performance or availability, use bonding or teaming to
make the interfaces look like a single logical interface to the operating system.

Double quotes in role names require other characters in name
When double quotes are included in the name of a role, the name should include at least one letter
or digit for each double quote. For example, if there is one double quote in the name, there should
also be at least one letter or digit in the name. If there are two double quotes, there should be at
least two letters or digits, and so on.
