4.0.0 HP Polyserve Matrix Server Release Notes (T5392-96051, March 2010)

DescriptionIssue
Multi-Node Installer does not support disabling startup mode for SQL Server 2008 service accounts
When the Disable option is selected as the startup mode for SQL Server 2008 service accounts, the
SQL Server installation fails.
Workaround. To disable the startup mode for specific service accounts, edit the following file:
C:\Programfiles\PolyServe\MatrixServer\lib\apache\docroot\mni_defaults\
SQL2008_base.xml
Locate the following RecordingChoice tag for the service:
<RecordingChoice name="Disable" value="Disable" description="Disable
Service" />
Change the value from Disable to Disabled. For example:
<RecordingChoice name="Disable" value="Disabled" description="Disabled
Service" />

SQL Server 2005 Full Text Search service is not started
After a SQL Server 2005 instance is virtualized, an Alert reports that the Full Text Search service is
not started. This message appears because the NTLM Security Support Provider (NTLMSSP) service
does not exist on Windows Server 2008, but is required by the SQL Server 2005 Full Text Search
service. This issue is documented in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936302
Workaround. Install SQL Server 2005 SP2, which HP PolyServe Software requires for virtualizing
SQL Server 2005 instances.

A user other than the creator cannot reuse/edit an installation template file
The Windows 2008 UAC feature prevents a user from reusing/editing a template file if the user
was not the creator of the file, even if the user belongs to the Administrators group. To allow the
user to manipulate the file, use one of these methods:
Grant the currently logged-in user exclusive full control permission for the template file.
Elevate the PolyServe Management Console (..\Program Files\PolyServe\MatrixServ-
er\bin\mxconsole.exe) to run as Administrator on the node where the operation is being
performed. To do this, right-click the executable, go the Compatibility tab, and check Always
Run as Administrator.

SQL Server 2005 cannot be installed on systems with a multicore processor
On a computer with a multicore processor, if the ratio of logical processors to physical sockets is
not a power of 2, you cannot install SQL Server 2005. To avoid this issue, before installing SQL
Server 2005, use one of the workarounds described in the following Microsoft article:

HP PolyServe Software for Windows File Serving
The following issues affect HP PolyServe Software for Windows File Serving.
DescriptionIssue
File shares with duplicate names are problematic
If a Matrix File Share and a Virtual File Share are created with the same name, the automated
monitors can become confused about which File Share they are monitoring. This situation can cause
unexpected failover behavior or can cause a File Share to point to the wrong resource.
Workaround. If a Matrix File Share and a Virtual File Share have the same name, they must be
configured identically.
