Inspect both fan modules at the rear of the director. Fan module LEDs can be
inspected through the hexagonal cooling vents of the radio frequency interference
(RFI) shield.
Does inspection of a director fan module indicate a failure? Indicators include:
The amber LED is illuminated but not blinking (beaconing) on one or both fan
modules.
One or more cooling fans are not rotating.
YES NO
Go to step 6.

One or more cooling fans failed, and one or both fan modules must be removed
and replaced (“RRP: Redundant Fan Module” on page 252).
If one or more fans in a module are operating, do not remove the fan module
unless the replacement is immediately available.
If a multiple fan failure caused a thermal shutdown, power on the director
after the fan modules are replaced (“Power-On Procedure” on page 200).
Note: Do not remove a fan module unless the replacement module is available.
Operation of the director with only one fan module for an extended period may cause
one or more thermal sensors to post event codes.
Are the fan modules functioning?
NO YES
The director is operational. Exit MAP.
