Setting PFS
Share
Parameters
You create and manage new shares in the Setup: Proxy File Service - Shares page. A
share is the data volume exported by the origin server. You specify the directory or
directory structure for the share on the HP EFS WAN Accelerator. The following table
describes the fields in the Shares list that appears after you have configured a share.
To set PFS share
parameters
1. Click the Setup tab to display the Setup: Optimization Service - General Settings
page.
2. Click Proxy File Service in the left menu to display the Setup: PFS - Configuration
page.
Field Description
Local Name Specifies the name for users to map this share. After the share is
configured you can map this share by connecting to \\HP EFS WAN
Accelerator\<local name>.
Description Specifies the comments for the share. If you did not provide any
comments, it displays the remote server and path name.
Mode The following modes are available:
Broadcast. Provides branch-office HP EFS WAN Accelerators with
local read-only copies of data stored on the origin server.
Local. Provides read-write access to a given file share hosted on the
branch-office HP EFS WAN Accelerator.
Stand-Alone. Provides read-write access to data on a branch office HP
EFS WAN Accelerator. (There may or may not be an origin server at the
data center with which the share has to synchronize data to.)
Sharing Activates Sharing. The share becomes sharable only after you check the
Sharing check box. To prevent users from connecting to this share,
uncheck the Sharing check box.
Syncing Activates synchronization. The share conducts automatic synchronization
with the origin server based on the synchronization frequency. To disable
automatic synchronization, uncheck the Syncing check box.
Actions Specifies the following actions:
Manual Sync. Allows you to immediately synchronize the share and its
corresponding remote share on the origin file server.
Verify. Allows you compare the PFS share with its equivalent on the
origin server. A list of differences is available in the Reports: PFS Shares
Status report. For detailed information, see “Viewing PFS Share Status
Reports” on page 158.
Cancel. Cancels the synchronization process.
