Installing the Edge Switch in the rack system/e or EIA rack

IMPORTANT: If you are installing an Edge Switch 2/32 in an rack system/e or EIA rack, you must

install the switch from the front of the rack.

Mounting the Adjustable Brackets in the HP Rack System/e or EIA Rack

Tools and equipment required:

• One #2 Phillips screwdriver

• Six 10-32 panhead screws (supplied in the kit).

TIP: You may want to remove the Edge Switch power supplies, as this will make the device lighter

and easier to handle.

IMPORTANT: Before removing the power supplies, review the Edge Switch service manual

for instructions on removing power supplies.

1. Orient the switch at the front of the equipment rack.

NOTE: The adjustable bracket assemblies attach inside the left and right vertical rails of the

rack. The brackets are identical and can be mounted on either side.

2. Orient the adjustable bracket assemblies so the entry end of the rack (the end into which the

switch will slide) is toward the front of the rack, as shown in Figure 8.

3. Set aside two screws for securing the ear brackets to the rails, after the switch is installed.

4. Adjust the lengths of the brackets to fit the rack.

5. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to secure, but not tighten both brackets to the vertical rails in the

rack with six 10-32 screws.

Do not install the top two 10-32 screws in the entry (rear) end of the brackets.
