4. After you change settings, click the Activate button.
5. Set the Edge Switch online. For instructions, see ”Setting the Edge Switch online and offline” on
page 47.
Edge Switch parameters
Configure the following parameters, as required by your fabric.
Domain ID
The domain identification is a value from 1 through 31 that provides a unique identification for the
Edge Switch in a fabric. An Edge Switch cannot contain the same domain ID as another Edge
Switch or their E_Ports will segment when they try to join.
In the Configure Switch Parameters dialog box, a box is provided to enter a preferred domain ID
and a check box is provided to enable this ID as an insistent domain ID.
Preferred
Use this box to set a unique domain ID for the Edge Switch. The default value is 1. Set a value from
1 through 31. When an Edge Switch comes online with a preferred ID, it requests an ID from the
fabric’s principal Edge Switch (indicating its preferred value as part of the request). If the requested
domain ID is not allocated to the fabric, the domain ID is assigned to the requesting Edge Switch. If
the requested domain ID is already allocated, an unused domain ID is assigned.
The preferred domain ID must be unique for each Director and Edge Switch in a fabric. If two Edge
Switches or Directors have the same preferred domain ID, the E_Ports segment, causing the fabric to
segment.
For more information on domain ID, see the section on domain ID assignment for multiswitch fabrics
in the HP StorageWorks HA-Fabric Manager user guide for details.
Insistent
This option is not supported unless the SANtegrity feature is installed. The default state is disabled
(no check mark).
When the check box is selected, the domain ID configured in the Preferred Domain ID box becomes
the active domain identification when the fabric initializes. See the following notes:
This option is required if the SANtegrity is enabled.
If you enable Insistent Domain while the Edge Switch or Director is online, the Preferred Domain
ID changes to the current active domain ID if the IDs are different.
CAUTION: If an Edge Switch with a duplicate domain ID exists in the fabric, both Edge Switch
E_Ports segment when they try to join.
Rerouting Delay
Selecting the Rerouting Delay check box enables rerouting delay. This option is applicable only if
the configured Edge Switch is in a multiswitch fabric. The default state is enabled.
