1 Flexport upgrade instructions These instructions describe how to upgrade the Edge Switch 2/32 by installing the flexport upgrade kit. Each flexport upgrade kit contains: • Eight small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers. • These upgrade instructions. • A transaction code for obtaining a software license key (feature key). Unpacking and inspecting the SFP transceivers Unpack and inspect the optics as follows: 1. Inspect the shipping container for damage caused during transit.
Upgrading to 32 ports To upgrade to 32 ports: 1. Perform the procedure for "Upgrading to 24 ports " on page 11. 2. Insert eight new SFP transceivers into ports 24 through 31 (Figure 1, reference 1). Ports 0 through 31 are now populated. If you need to configure feature keys, see "Obtaining a feature key" on page 12. Feature keys A flexport technology switch is delivered at a discount with only four ports enabled.
The Hewlett-Packard Authorization Center will deliver the unique feature key to you by the same method you use to send your information to the Authorization Center. For example, if you send your information by e-mail, the Authorization Center will send the feature key to you by e-mail. NOTE: Feature keys are encoded to work with the serial number of the installed switch only. Record the key in case you need to re-install the feature. 3.
Figure 2 Maintenance Feature Installation tab 7. Enter the feature key in the Feature Key box, and then click Update. A confirmation page contains a warning that this action will override the current set of features on the switch. 8. Click OK to activate the new feature key. The switch performs an IPL when the key is activated and the feature key is installed. NOTE: When you select OK, all current features are replaced with new features. 9.

The Enable Feature Key dialog box is displayed (Figure 5). Figure 5 Enable Feature Key dialog box The Enable Feature Key dialog box contains a warning that this action will override the current set of features on the switch. All enabled features are listed in the Current Features column.
When the feature key is enabled, the switch performs an initial program load (IPL), during which the Ethernet connection between the HAFM appliance and switch is momentarily interrupted. 8. If your firmware is 04.01.02 or later, proceed to step 9. or If your firmware is earlier than 04.01.02, select Maintenance > Set Online State to set the switch online. 9. Back up the configuration data when you are finished configuring the switch.
