6. Select the Communications LUN tab.
The Communications LUN is not used with Windows NT/Windows 2000 in SCSI-2
mode. It should be disabled (grayed out). If the Communications LUN is enabled, you
must disable it using the CLI window. First close the Storage Window, and establish a
CLI connection. To invoke a CLI Window from the Command Console Client's Start
menu, select Command Console, then the CLI Window option.
The Connection Selection Window appears. Select Serial. At the next window select
9600 baud rate and click Connect to invoke the CLI window. Enter the following
command to disable the Communication LUN:
set this_controller nocommand_console_lun
Close the CLI Window. Return to the Windows Start Menu and select the HSG80
Storage Window option to re-open the storage window.
7. Select the Connections tab.
Confirm the following:
WINNT is selected
Unit Offset should be between 0-99 for Host Port 1, and between 100-199 for Host
Port 2 (if connected)
7. Select the Battery tab.
NOTE: Confirm that the battery is fully charged. If not, wait until it is fully charged, before using
the system.
Creating Your First Virtual Disk
Command Console can create a number of different types of logical storage units called
virtual disks on your Enterprise Storage RAID Array Fibre Channel Subsystem. You can
create:
Single-device virtual disks (JBODs).
Striped virtual disks (RAID 0).
Mirrored virtual disks (RAID 1).
Striped mirrored virtual disks (RAID 0+1).
Striped parity virtual disks with floating parity disk (RAID 3/5).
Virtual disks are created using Command Console Virtual Disk Wizard.
