Host Connection Table Management Improvements
Current implementation of host connectivity grants access to the first ninety-six
(96) host connections that attempt to login to the controller. After that, all edits to
the host connection table are manual and require extensive CLI commands to
delete and/or replace connections.
Host Connection Table Locking
Host table lock and unlock commands have been added to control the connection
table in NVRAM. When the table is locked, the host login request (PLOGI) will
be rejected (unless the connection is already in the table) and the request will be
stored internally on a rejected hosts table. In the default mode, if a PLOGI is
received when the connection table is unlocked, the connection will be granted if
there is room in the connection table. The lock state can be changed with the
following CLI commands:
CLI> SET <THIS | OTHER> CONNECTIONS_LOCKED
CLI> SET <THIS | OTHER> CONNECTIONS_UNLOCKED
The CONNECTIONS_LOCKED and CONNECTIONS_UNLOCKED switches must
be typed completely to stop someone from inadvertently changing the state of the
lock.
The lock is maintained in the failover information (fi) section of each controller's
NV. When the state of the lock is changed on one controller, the other controller is
updated as well. The existing CLI command to ADD CONN is not affected by the
state of the lock.
Viewing Host Connection Table Lock State
The state of the lock can be displayed using:
CLI> SHOW <THIS | OTHER>
The following string is displayed just before the port topology information:
Host Connection Table is <LOCKED | NOT locked >
