Verifying/Installing Required Versions
NOTE: HszDisk refers to the Windows 2000 device driver. HszDisk refers to the Windows NT
device driver.
Before you run Disk Administrator or Disk Management, verify that Hsz/HsxDisk
recognizes the volumes that you created in the Fibre Channel as follows:
1. Open the Event Viewer in the Administrative Tools group.
2. Look for an entry for Hsz/HsxDisk in the Event Viewer window.
If an entry for Hsz/HsxDisk appears with 0 in the Event column, the Hsz/HsxDisk
loaded successfully and connected to at least one logical volume in the MA6000
Fibre Channel.
If no entry for the Hsz/HsxDisk appears in the Event View window, reinstall
Hsz/HsxDisk and reboot.
If an entry for Hsz/HsxDisk appears with a 1 in the Event column, Hsz/HsxDisk
did not load because it did not find any logical drives. Ensure that you have added
logical units correctly.

2000 Disk Management to complete a new subsystem configuration. For additional
information, refer to your Windows NT and Windows 2000 documentation.
IMPORTANT: Before you begin, remember to back up your system using normal back up
procedures.

Understanding the Disk Administrator and Disk
Management Displays
Windows 2000 uses the Disk Management program, while Windows NT uses the Disk
Administrator program. They both create a Bar Chart display of your disk configuration.
Windows NT and Windows 2000 names the various devices that were created using the
subsystem. Each disk device found by Windows NT and Windows 2000 is given a name;
for example, Disk 0, Disk 1, etc. There should be an entry shown for each disk (JBOD) or
storageset created.
