HSG80 ACS Solution Software V8.6 for Windows NT and Windows 2000 Installation and Configuration Guide

Configuration Procedures 5–3
CAUTION: The maintenance port generates, uses, and can radiate radio-frequency
energy through its cables. This energy may interfere with radio and television
reception. Disconnect all maintenance port cables when not communicating with the
controller through the local connection.
Setting Up a Single Controller
Power On and Establish Communication
1. Connect the computer or terminal to the controller as shown in Figure 51. The
connection to the computer is through the COM1 or COM2 port.
2. Turn on the computer or terminal.
3. Apply power to the storage subsystem.
4. Verify that the computer or terminal is configured as follows:
9600 baud
8 data bits
1 stop bit
no parity
5. Press Enter. A copyright notice and the CLI prompt appear, indicating that you
established a local connection with the controller.
Cabling a Single Controller
The cabling for a single controller is shown in Figure 52.
NOTE: It is a good idea to plug only the controller cables into the switch. The host cables are
plugged into the switch as part of the configuration procedure (“Configuring a Single Controller
Using CLI,” page 5–4).
