Inspect the contents of the kit. (Tape drive replacement kits do not
contain a cable.) You may also need a slotted screwdriver to install
thetapedrive.
2 Locating the instructions for your
librar y’s conguration
This tape module k it can be used to add an LTO4 (Ultrium 1840) tape
drive to a library or replace an existing LTO 2 (Ultrium 460), LTO3
(Ultrium 960) or LTO4 tape drive.
Special steps are needed when adding the rst LTO4 tape driv e to a
librar y that only contains LTO2 or LTO3 tape drives and when replacing
an LTO2 or LTO3 tape drive with a LTO4 tape drive.
To install this LTO4 tape drive, go to the section of this guide containing
the procedure for your situation:
Sec t ion 3: Adding an LTO4 tape drive to a library that already
has an LTO4 tape drive.
Sec t ion 4: Adding an LTO4 tape drive to a library without any LTO4
tape drives installed.
Sec t ion 5: Replacing an LTO2 or LTO3 tape drive in a library that
already has an LTO4 tape drive.
Sec t ion 6: Replacing an LTO2 or LTO3 tape drive in a library without
any LTO4 tape drives installed.
