Installation
Caution: Parts can be damaged by
electrostatic discharge. Keep parts in their
containers until needed. Ensure you are
properly grounded when touching static-
sensitive components.
Caution: To operate your library
with mixed media, the library must have:
- Firmware version 2.0 or higher
- Removable load port magazines
- Secure Manager for ESL with partitioning
enabled and one media type per
partition.

Ensure the library feet are lowered to the floor
so that the library is securely in place. To do
this, rotate each foot of the library until it makes
contact with the floor, then rotate each foot an
additional 1/4 turn.
Inspect the contents of the kit.

Note: These parts are not hot-
swappable. It is necessary to power
down the library to replace these parts.
Note: Be prepared to upgrade the
corresponding drives, interface controllers,
and other hardware to the same technology
as the new panels. These must be
purchased separately, and installed
following the instructions provided with
the hardware.
Note: This installation is most easily
performed by two people.
Power off the library.
a. Use your backup software to verify that
the picker is empty or to empty the picker.
b. Press the power button located on the
front of the library behind the laptop tray
and wait until the OCP goes blank.

Flip the two breaker switches on at the power
distribution unit.
Power on the library:
a. Verify that power cables are firmly in place.
b. Press the power button located behind the
laptop tray.
c. After several minutes, verify that the current
state of the library appears in the System
State display on the OCP (System On-line
or System Off-line).
On the OCP, verify that the mixed media is
installed and recognized:
a. On the system status screen, the library
model number identifies the new panel type.
b. On the system status screen, the number of
slots identifies the new slot count.
c. Select the Menu button, then use the
Down button to highlight Cabinet and
press Select. If necessary, select the Down
button to show the table at the bottom of the
screen. It will provide the number of slots,
drives, and ports for SDLT, LTO, and the
library total.
Close the back door of the library.
