HP EVA4000/6000/8000 and EVA4100/6100/8100 Updating Product Software Guide (XCS 6.250) (5697-1716, February 2012)

c. If a problem is indicated, expand the navigation tree under the Hardware folder, until

d. Click the component icon to display the Disk Enclosure Properties window (Figure 4 (page

3. Verify that there are no hardware components in the Unmappable Hardware folder:
a. Expand the navigation tree under the Hardware folder in the navigation pane.
b. Click the Unmappable Hardware folder.
Hardware components can be placed in the Unmappable Hardware folder for several
reasons. For example, hardware components can be placed in the Unmappable Hardware
folder when the I/O modules on a disk enclosure are not working, the controllers restart,
or there is a hardware failure. If there are any hardware components listed under this
folder, determine why they are listed there and fix the problems.
4. Replace any hardware components that have failed.
NOTE: To replace any components, see the HP 4x00/6x00/8x00 Enterprise Virtual Array
User Guide for replacement instructions. See Table 1 (page 7) for the link to this guide.
TIP: If there is a yellow attention icon (for example, when leveling is occurring), you may
still be able to do the upgrade. If any unusual icons are visible, check with your HP-authorized
service representative before doing the upgrade.
If you cannot resolve the error, contact your HP-authorized service representative for assistance.
Checking the battery
If you have an EVA8000 or EVA8100, HP recommends that you also check the visual indication
of the load test or charge state of the battery before proceeding with the upgrade. If the battery
exhibits the following event and visual indicators, contact HP Support for assistance before starting
the controller software upgrade.
