IMPORTANT:
A successful installation depends on using compatible versions of the OS and software. See the
hardware pro vider release notes for version requirements.
You must install and/or configure the following software on the Windows VDS server to enable use of
the HP MSA VDS hardware provider:
• Windows Server 2003 operating system
• HP-tested HBA d river software
• HP MSA VDS hardware provider
• Optional HP MPIO Basic or Full Featured DSM multipathing software
• Optional MSCS clustering software (clusters up to four nodes are supported)
• Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) quick fixes listed in the HP MSA VDS hardware provider release
notes on the host
Important HP MSA VDS hardware provider preconfiguration
notes
When logging into the server(s), disk array, and VDS-related software, you must log in using administrator
privileges to ensure proper communication b etween all devices and processes. If you d o not use
administrator privileges, the software and hardware will not communicate properly.
