1 Migrating single-path standalone systems This chapter provides procedural steps to migrate existing single-path standalone MSA1000 and MSA1500 disk arrays in Windows environments from active/passive to active/active processing. IMPORTANT: upgrade: Before proceeding, you must understand the following limitations associated with the • If HP MPIO Manager for MSA Arrays is installed, it can not be accessed through HP Insight Manager.
Migration steps Step Description Check 1 Isolate the system unit from the network: F • Notify users that the system is temporarily going offline. • Disconnect all network sessions: • From the server console desktop, select Start>Run. • In the Run window, enter compmgmt.msc and then click OK to open the Computer Management Utility. • In the left pane, click Computer Management>System Tools> Shared Folders>Sessions. • In the right pane, right-click, and then select Disconnect All Sessions.
Step Description (continued) Check 4 (For systems with HP Secure Path MPIO software only) F Disable HP Secure Path services and drivers: • From the server console desktop, select Start>Run. • In the Run window, enter services.msc and then click OK to open the Services Utility. • In the right pane, double-click Compaq HS_ Service. • Change the Startup type from Automatic to Disabled. • Click Stop to stop the service. • Click OK to close the window. • In the right pane, double-click Secure Path Agent.
Step Description (continued) Check 7 (For systems with HP Secure Path MPIO software only) F Enable HP Secure Path services and drivers: • From the server console desktop, select Start>Run. • In the Run window, enter devmgmt.msc and then click OK to open the Device Manager Utility. • Select SCSI and RAID controllers, right-click the Compaq Secure Path Disk Bus device, and then select Enable. • Close the Device Manager Utility. • From the server console desktop, select Start>Run.
Post-migration steps Step Description Check 1 Restart the server node. F 2 Verify that device drivers are installed correctly within Device Manager: F • From the server console desktop, select Start>Run. • In the Run window, enter devmgmt.msc and then click OK to open the Device Manager Utility. • From the main menu, select View>Show hidden devices. • Right-click the Disk Drives icon, and then select Scan for hardware changes.

The server restarts. • Close the Add (or/) Remove Programs Utility window.

F 2 Verify that device drivers are installed correctly within Device Manager: F • From the server console desktop, select Start>Run. • In the Run window, enter devmgmt.msc and then click OK to open the Device Manager Utility. • From the main menu, select View>Show hidden devices. • Right-click the Disk Drives icon, and then select Scan for hardware changes.
Step Description (continued) Check 6 Verify Cluster functionality: F • From the server console desktop, select Start>Run. • In the Run window, enter cluadmin. and then click OK to open the Cluster Administrator Utility. • In the right pane, right-click each of the cluster groups and select Move to move each group to this server node. Note: Skip this step if this is the only node running in the cluster. • Verify that each cluster group is online and is owned by this server node.

Step Description (continued) Check 18 From the back of the server node, disconnect the Fibre Channel cable from the HBA card that is connected to the passive MSA controller. F 19 Notify all system units connected to the MSA disk array that the disk array will temporarily be offline. F 20 Restart the disk array.
