Installing hard

drives in the enclosures

After the stora

ge enclosures are secured in the rack, install hard drives into the drive bays. For installation

instructions, see the documents shipped with the hard drive or enclosure.

Be sure to record information about the hard drives and their conﬁguration (Array and unit information,

Target information,andInitiator access information)

For a list of the hard drives that are supported for use with the MSA1510i and your storage enclosure,

CAUTION

• Follow industry-standard practices when handling hard drives. Internal storage media can be

damaged when drives are shaken, dropped, or roughly placed on a work surface.

• Wheninstallingaharddrive,makesurethedriveisfullyseatedinthedrivebay.

• When re

moving a hard drive, press the release button and pull the drive only slightly out of the

enclos

ure. Then, to allow time for the internal disk to stop rotating, wait approximately 10 seconds

befor

e completely removing the drive from the enclosure.

NOTE:

HP recommends installing hard drives in bay-number sequence. Locate this and additional installation

information in the documentation shipped with the storage enclosure.
