Replace the brac
ket if you plan to install the adapter in a
low-profile slot.

Remove the two screws on top of the board.

Use a small, flat screwdriver to remove the four stand-offs
on the extern
al connectors.
Remove the bracket and replace it with the low-profile
bracket. Verify that the new bracket is oriented correctly.
Replace the st
and-offs to secure the bracket to the board.
Secure the two screws to the large bracket for future use.
3Preparingtheserver
Review the documentation for your host computer to select
an appropriat
e slot for the adapter.
Back up all data and perform a normal system shutdown.
Po wer do wn the server and peripheral devices. Unplug the
po wer cord fr o m the power outlet and server.
Disconnect all peripheral devices from the server.
4Installingtheadapter
WARNING!
To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces,
allow the drives and internal system components to cool
before touching them.
Open the server c ase.
Install the adapter in the selected PCI expansion slot.
Consult your computer's documentation if you have
questions about how to install cards in your system.
Close the computer case.
5 Connecting the
devices

Insert a S CSI cable into a connector on the adapter and
tighten the screws. Attach the other end of the cable to the
first device in the bus. Connect cables between the other
devices in th
e bus. Attach a terminator to the last device.
Repeat for the other channel if necessary.
Reconnect the power cords. Power up the server and
peripherals.
6 Installing drivers
Load the product CD into the host computer. The CD will
display an HTML page. Click the arrow next to Drivers
in the Extras section.
On Windows, double-click the fileforyouroperating
system and then navigate to the extracted the files.
Double-clic
k setup.exe and then click Install.
On Linux, unzip the Linux driver package and follow the
installation instructions in the readme.txt file.

NOTE:
The adapter s
ettings provide excellent performance for a
wide range of
applications. LUN support is enabled by
default for
usewithtapelibraries.Seethe
User Guide on
the product CD if you need to change the configuration.
7 Validatin
gtheSCSIbus
For Windows only.
On the product CD HTML page, click the arrow next to
Utilities in the Extras section.
Double-click win_app_hbautil_330hp.exe to extract
the files. Navigate to the location where you e xtracted the
files. Double-click Setup.msi and follow the directions.
Run the SCSI Domain Validation Utility to test the SCSI bus.
