1 Overview
Description
This firmware release is compatible with all versions of HP Ultrium LTO3 920 SAS hardware in
the HP StorageWorks MSL2024, MSL4048, MSL8048, and MSL8096 Tape Libraries and 1/8
G2 Autoloader for the which has a firmware version in the format QxxW where x is any character.
The tape drive firmware can be updated through any of the following methods:
• Remote management interface (RMI).
• Operator control panel (OCP).
• HP Library and Tape Tools (L&TT).

Fixes
• Fixed a case where space operations could fail due to the Access Point being in the wrong
position (error code 0x3023).
• Corrects a case where the drive incorrectly reported to the host that a tape was stuck to the
head (error code 0x76AC).
• Fixed a case when the Universal Cleaning Cartridge (UCC) load count was incorrectly reported
by the read attribute command.
Installation instructions
To upgrade firmware from the RMI:
1. Download current firmware using L&TT or from the HP support website: http://www.hp.com/
support/storage
2. Log into the RMI as the administrator user.
3. In the Support: Firmware page, select the tape drive, browse to the location of the tape drive
firmware file, and click Update.
4. Repeat step 3 for additional Ultrium 920 SAS tape drives in the Library.
