HP StorageWorks Multi-protocol Router Installation Guide (A7437-96003, September 2005)

Multi-protocol router installation guide 69
Table 22 Power supply replacement components
Time required
Less than 15 minutes.
Items required
New power supply
Phillips screwdriver
NOTE: Disassembling any part of the power supply voids the part warranty and regulatory
certifications. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the power supply. Because the cooling
system relies on pressurized air, do not leave either of the power supply slots empty longer than 15
minutes while the MP Router is operating. If a power supply fails, leave it in the MP Router until it
can be replaced. Maintain both power supplies in operational condition to provide redundancy.
Each power supply uses two LEDs to indicate its status. See Table 13 on page 55 for a list of power
supply LEDs.
CAUTION: Do not remove one power supply until the other one is verified as powered on for at
least 4 seconds and both of its LEDs are green (on). If you intend to replace a power supply while
the MP Router is operating, the replacement power supply must be installed and operating within
15 minutes to maintain correct air pressure within the chassis.
Procedure
Follow these steps to remove and replace a power supply:
1. If the MP Router is to continue operating during the replacement, verify that the remaining power
supply has been powered on for at least four seconds and both of its LEDs are green (on).
2. Power off the power supply being replaced by pressing the AC power switch to 0; then, unplug
the power cord from the AC receptacle.
See Figure 13 on page 68 for the location of the AC power switch and receptacle.
