Unpack the Network Storage Router
Save the packaging materials in the event the router
will be shipped in the future.
Remove the network storage router from the box and
place it on a flat and stable work surface.

Identify product components
Confirm that you have received the following product
components.
1 HP StorageWorks N1200-320 4Gb Network
Storage Router
2 Accesory kit consisting of:
a.Two rack mount assembly rails
b.Two rack mount extender brackets
c. One bag of mounting hardware to include eight
#10-32x 6 Phillips screws, and eight #6-32x 312
Phillips screws
3 3-Pin DB9 10’ Serial Cable
4 Getting Started Poster
5 Media bundle consisting of:
a.Documentation CD
b. Safety CD
c. Warranty Booklet
d.HP product documentation survey
6 Stick-on feet
7 Power cord

WARNING! When placing the network storage
router into a rack, to reduce the risk of personal
injury or damage to equipment:
Extend the rack’s leveling jacks to the floor.
Ensure that the full weight of the rack rests
on the leveling jacks.
Install stabilizing feet on the rack.
Extend only one rack component at a time.
Racks may become unstable if more than
one component is extended.
Printed on at least 50% total recycled fiber
with at least 10% post-consumer paper

Connect the power cord
Connect the power cord to the power connector on the
back of the router. Connect the other end of the power
cord to a grounded voltage source.

IMPORTANT! The power cord shipped with the router is
a 120 VAC three-conductor power cord for use in the
United States and Canada. If the router is being
installed outside the United States or Canada, the
appropriate power cord should be purchased.
Interfaces

There are four types of interfaces to connect on the
router, a serial port connection (1), a Ethernet
connection (2), an Fibre Channel connection (3), and
two SCSI connections (4).

StorageWorks N1200-320 4Gb User and Service
Guide found on the Documentation CD.

Register your network storage
router
Register your network storage router online at
www.register.hp.com. HP customers who register join a
select group to receive technical support updates and
special HP offers.
Typical installation configuration
tasks
(Refer to the User and Service Guide found on the
documentation CD)
Change the Administrative password if desired
Change the network settings if needed
Set the date and time
Verify that the default map is Indexed
Edit the Fibre Channel Port (FC) 0 map so that it is
filled with the SCSI devices (library and drives) that
are communicating over FC
Assign the FC Port 0 map to any hosts that need to
communicate with the SCSI devices (library and
drives)
