Configuring a Loopback Adapter or static IP address
Configure a Loopback Adapter or a static IP address on your management station.
Loopback Adapter
A Loopback Adapter is required if you want to install P9000 Performance Advisor on:
A DHCP computer
A non-networked system and plan to connect the computer to a network after installation
NOTE:
The Loopback Adapter installed on the system must be made the primary network adapter.
To verify if a Loopback Adapter is already installed on your computer, run the ipconfig/all
command:
DRIVE_LETTER:\>ipconfig /all
If there is a Loopback Adapter installed, a section that lists the values for the Loopback Adapter is
displayed. For example:

Static IP address
To assign a static IP address, do the following:
1. Right-click My Network Places and select Properties.
2. In the Network Connections window, right-click the network that you are using and select Prop-
erties from the pop-up list.
3. In the Local Area Connection Properties window, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from the This
connection uses the following items list, and click Properties.
4. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, select the Use the following IP Address option
and provide the IP address details.
Similarly, select the Use the following DNS server addresses option and provide the relevant details.
5. Click OK on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window and the Local Area Connection
Properties window.
