HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.3 User and Troubleshooting Guide (T1789-96322, August 2011)
NOTE:
• If you have saved the P9000 Performance Advisor database on a different location during
installation, navigate to that location.
• The target-path that you specify must not include space in the file location path.
• To restore your files, enter:
%HPSS_HOME%\bin\backuputility -restore target-path
Where, target-path is the location where you want to restore the files.
You can also restore data for an XP or a P9000 disk array DKC, or a particular duration. The
following are the commands:
• %HPSS_HOME%\bin\backuputility -restore target-path —dkc <DKC_Seri-
al_Number>
• %HPSS_HOME%\bin\backuputility -restore target-path —time <Start date
and time> <End date and time>
The format for the start and end date, and time is as follows: DD-MM-YYYY, hh:mm:ss

Determining disk space requirements
Use the following formula to determine the disk space requirements for P9000 Performance Advisor
on a day basis. The factors that influence the output are the number of arrays, LDEVs, ports, DKC
components, performance data collection, and collection frequency:
Free_Space (MB/day for one array) = [(SECONDS_PER_DAY /
Ldev_Collection_frequency) * LDEVs * Ldev_Space ] + [(SECONDS_PER_DAY /
Port_Collection_ frequency) * PORTs * Port_Space] + [(SECONDS_PER_DAY/
Dkc_Collection_ frequency) * Dkc_Space]
where:
• Free_Space (MB/day) = Total free disk space (in MB) required for a day
• LDEVs = Total number of LDEVs in an XP or a P9000 disk array (includes journal volumes, pool
volumes, external volumes, and so on)
• PORTs = Total number of ports for an XP or a P9000 disk array
• Ldev_Collection_frequency = Collection frequency for LDEVs (in seconds)
• Port_Collection_frequency = Collection frequency for ports (in seconds)
• Dkc_Collection_ frequency = Collection frequency for DKC (in seconds)
