Correcting a Host LUN Mapping Problem
When constructing RAIDsets or RAIDsets with partitions using StorageWorks
Command Console, the utility interfaces directly with the HSZ22 controller
and maps a unique redundancy group to the RAIDset. Located in the HSZ22
Monitor Utility is the Host Logical Unit Number (LUN) Mapping Sheet,
which identifies a RAIDset/Redundancy Group as a LUN. This monitor utility
must be used to alter the redundancy group information.
Always document and save your RA3000 RAID set configuration for future
reference. Information on each RAID set and partition the original LUN
number, controller, and host port parameters should be readily available if a
problem occurs. Appendix A contains configuration sheets to help you in this
process.
CAUTION: Perform this procedure only if previous methods to resolve LUN
mapping problems have been unsuccessful. Deviating from the HSZ22 DEC
monitor utility host LUN mapping menu risks entering menus where controller
parameters can be altered creating data integrity problems, data loss, and
possible malfunction of the controller. Compaq recommends that only
experienced personnel use this procedure.
1. Stop the Agent as specified for your operating system.
2. Connect a serial cable from the PCs (or maintenance terminals) COM
ports to the corresponding serial ports (CTR1 and CTR2) on the storage
system (one serial connection per controller).
3. Open a HSZ22 Monitor Utility terminal session for each controller.
Ensure the terminal settings are: 9600 baud, 8 bits, No Parity, 1 stop bit,
flow control XON/XOFF.
4. When the terminal session appears, press the Escape key, then press the
Shift+7 keys. The controller should respond with a banner listing HSZ22
Monitor Utility followed by the firmware revision number.
5. Enter RAID as the password and press the Enter key to access the main
menu.
6. Scroll to Setup Parameters and press the Enter key.
7. Scroll to Host LUN Mapping and press the Enter key to display the host
LUN Mapping property.
