Use the following steps to assist you during the installation process. They
summarize the steps to install, configure and create your first virtual disk.
Detailed procedures are provided in this guide.
1. Back up your system and locate user-supplied hardware.
2. Plan your configuration. Determine the type of storage containers you
require. The RAID Array 3000 supports single disks Just a Bunch of
Disks (JBODs), StripeSets (RAID 0), MirrorSets (RAID 1), Striped
MirrorSets (RAID 0+1), striped with a fixed parity drive (RAID 4) and
striped with a floating parity drive (RAID 5). Use the configuration

communication cable and AC power cord.
4. Connect a serial line from the computer system you will use to monitor
and manage your RAID Array 3000 to serial port CTR TOP. This port is
connected to the controller installed in the top controller slot.
5. Install the host SCSI adapter and software driver in your computer
system and connect the host adapter to the RAID Array 3000 subsystem.
The RAID Array 3000 connects to the SCSI host adapter card by means
of a BN37A-05 SCSI cable, and a VHDCI to 68-pin HD adapter cable
(BN38-0B).
6. Install Command Console Client software for Windows NT and
Windows 2000.
7. Establish communications with your RAID Array 3000 over the serial
line.
8. Configure your RAID Array 3000 controller and create your first virtual
disk.
9. Complete the installation under Windows NT and Windows 2000.
10. Install Command Console Agent to enable network communication with
your RAID Array 3000.
