Compaq StorageWorks Getting Started RAID Array 3000 for Microsoft Windows Installation Guide (AA-RACZD-TE, January 2001)
2-8 Getting Starting RAID Array 3000 for Microsoft Windows Installation Guide
Connecting the AC Power Cords
The subsystem contains two identical power supplies that provide redundant
power to the RAID Array 3000. Each supply is equipped with an AC power
receptacle for connection to a 125 or 230 VAC power source. The power
supplies automatically sense the voltage level and will work with either
voltage.
Two power cords are required to operate and provide redundant power to the
subsystem. Table 2–1 lists the Compaq power cords available for the
subsystem. Since these cords are country-specific, ensure that your cords
match those listed in Table 2–1 for your installation.
Make sure the power button switch on the top right front of the enclosure is in
the off position (button out). Obtain the correct power cords for your AC
power source and connect them between the AC receptacles on the power
supplies and the AC outlets. Be sure to connect the UPS to the other power
supply (Figure 2–6) to prevent the loss of storage data in the event of a failure
of the AC power source. Connect the UPS sensing cable from Comm Port 1 on
the UPS to the UPS connector on the back of the RAID Array 3000.
Also, make sure that the UPS are the correct type for your voltage source. The
international UPS supports 220 VAC, and has the part number
4N-AEADA-FC, while the North American model supports 125 VAC, and has
the part number 4N-AEADA-EC; the UPS cable is 6.6 feet (2m) long and has
the part number 17-04729-01.
NOTE: You can begin configuring the RAID Array 3000 while the UPS is charging, but do
not attempt to fully utilize the subsystem, with data transfers for example, before the UPS
battery is fully charged.
