Before You Install SWXA3-BD SCSI Host
Adapter
You need the following items before you begin:
The host adapter (SWXA3BD)
Your computer system hardware manual for reference information
Host adapter Installation Guide
Appropriate tools to access your computer
Technology Adapter Cable (BN38E0B) HD68 to VHDCI
The SCSI cable (BN37A–05) — VHDCI VHDCI
Floppy diskette labeled ADAPTEC 7800 Family Driver Set for
Windows NT (contains the AIC 78xx.SYS driver)
CD-ROM RAID Array 3000 V1.3 for Microsoft Windows
(AG-RAD1D-BE)
Before installing the adapter in your host system, take precautions to protect
the board from electrostatic discharge.
CAUTION: To protect the board from static discharge, always use proper ESD
procedures. In addition, do not remove the board from its anti-static protective
cover until you are ready to install the adapter.
The major steps for installing the SCSI host adapter include:
Performing the physical installation
Connecting the SWXA3BD to the RAID Array 3000 subsystem
Configuring your host adapter (see Chapter 5 Preparing Your Host for
Use with Your RAID Array 3000”)
Installing the SWXA3BD/Ultra PCI miniport device driver (see
Chapter 5 Preparing Your Host for Use with Your RAID Array 3000)
After installing the host adapter you then:
Install the RAID WNT device driver (see Chapter 5 Preparing Your
Host for Use with Your RAID Array 3000”)
