Version Fabric Manager 5.2.0a Description Fabric Manager is a powerful application that manages multiple B-Series switches and fabrics in real time. In particular, Fabric Manager provides the essential functions for configuring, monitoring, dynamically provisioning, and managing B-Series Fibre Channel switch fabrics.
New products This release includes the following new hardware platforms: • HP StorageWorks 4/48 SAN Director Blade • SilkWorm FC4–16IP (Not supported at the time of this document’s release). Go to http://www.hp.com for the latest supported products. Supported B-Series switches This section describes product models supported by Fabric Manager 5.2.0a. Table 1 lists the Brocade switches and the corresponding HP switches supporting Fabric Manager 5.2.0a. Table 1 B-Series switches supporting Fabric Manager 5.2.
Operating systems For a list of supported operating systems for each switch, see http://h18006.www1.hp.com/storage/ saninfrastructure/switches.html. Fabric operating systems Table 2 lists the earliest software versions supported in this release — that is, the earliest software versions that work together. For best performance, HP recommends using the latest supported software versions. Fabric Manager 5.2.0a is compatible with the previous two releases of Fabric OS: • Fabric OS 5.1.x • Fabric OS 5.2.
Enhancements This section summarizes Fabric Manager 5.2.0a enhancements. New operating system support Fabric Manager 5.2.0a supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 4.0. NOTE: For a list of supported operating systems for each switch, see http://h18006.www1.hp.com/storage/ saninfrastructure/switches.html. New features introduced in Fabric Manager 5.2.0a Fabric Manager 5.2.0a includes the following new features: • DomainId and AreaId displays in hex in addition to decimal in the tables & topology.
• Cascaded FICON Configuration Utility — two new utility menu selections are provided in the Fabric Manager tool bar to allow the user to easily perform initial configuration of fabrics for cascaded FICON setup. • Call Home — this Fabric Manger feature now includes Node Identification Data in Call Home message along with SupportShow output with Call Home email.
To start Fabric Manager 1. Open a browser window and type the Fabric Manager server hostname or IP address in the Address field; for example: http://FMserverhost1.companyname.com/ http://192.168.10.11/ If, when the Fabric Manager server was installed, a Fabric Manager web server port number was specified (instead of the default 80), you must specify the port number after the hostname or IP address. In the following examples, 8080 is the web server port number: http://FMserverhost1.companyname.
End-to-End performance monitoring for Fabric OS 4.1.2 to 4.2.2b For switches running Fabric OS 4.1.2 to 4.2.2b, the PSD might crash after enabling End-to-End Performance Monitoring from Fabric Manager 4.4 and later. This could lead to a switch reboot or failover. Workaround: Upgrade to Fabric OS versions later than 4.2.2b, 4.4.0d, or 5.0.1; or disable end-to-end performance monitoring from Fabric Manager. Fabric discovery If you use Fabric OS 4.4.0c or earlier 4.
Switch icon colors For switches running Fabric OS 2.6.1e, the switch icons in Fabric Manager might not change color correctly during status changes, particularly when changing from a healthy state (green) to a user-induced disabled state (yellow). Missing switches in Fabric Manager Various anomalies occur when there are missing switches in a fabric. Workaround: Delete switches with the “missing” status and refresh the fabric.
Fabric Manager 5.2.0a fixes Table 3 lists Fabric Manager 5.2.0a fixes. Table 3 Fabric Manager 5.2.0a closed issues Closed defect summary Solution Disabling Password Persistence will cause some manual operations to fail. For example: Switch/Port disable/enable and Switch/Port rename. When the operation fails, the user will see an RBAC failure dialog. Workaround: Enable Password Persistence through the FM Client Preferences dialog. Device port names are not updated after an upgrade from Fabric Manager 5.
