HP StorageWorks TapeAssure service release notes (EH957-90924, September 2010)

The service now retains a copy of the most recent ticket pulled for each drive, which can be viewed
with L&TT or sent to HP support for analysis.
Drives can now be selectively disabled by adding their serial numbers to the DRIVES_TO_BE_DISABLED
key in the configuration file.
Event notifications are now sent to the Windows application log. Disabling sending of one or more
event categories can be configured in the config\sta_event_configuration.cfg file in the
installation directory.
The TapeAssure service can now be monitored and managed from HP Library & Tape Tools 4.11
and later versions. See the HP Library and Tape Tools user guide for more information.
Prerequisites
The service should in installed on a system that can communicate with the tape drive. This is typically
the backup server.
Device drivers for the tape drive should be loaded on the server running the service.
The server on which the service is installed should be able to communicate with the management
station running Command View TL. This may require the port to be enabled in the firewall. The
port number may be configured in the TapeAssure service configuration file and also in Command-
View TL (they must both use the same port).
Allow 20 MB of disk space for the installation and 100 MB of disk space for temporary ticket
storage, though normally less than 5 MB is needed. The maximum value can be configured in the
TapeAssure service configuration file.
