HP StorageWorks XP10000 Disk Array Site Preparation Guide (AE102-96014, March 2008)

2. In Table 4, find the column for c that most closely matches your value. If your c value is between
two table values, use the larger value. Then, find the row for your floor load rating. Where the
column and row intersect is the a+b value.

3. To determine clearance a and clearance b, divide the a+b value between a and b. They do not
need to be equal. For example, if the a+b value from the table is 600 mm, then a can be 400
mm and b can be 200, or both a and b can be 300.
4. Calculate total clearances by filling in and adding the columns in the following worksheet:

Notes on primary rack floor loading and clearances:
Provide 100 mm of clearance on both sides of the disk array when the kick plates are to be
attached after the disk array is installed. When disk arrays of the same type are to be installed
adjacent to each other, clearance between the arrays may be 100 mm.
Decide actual clearances in consultation with the construction specialist responsible for installation.
They may vary depending on the size and layout of the system and building conditions.
When multiple disk arrays are arranged in a row, base your clearance values on the requirements
of the largest disk array.
Generally, clearance c should be as large as allowable.
Notes on primary and secondary rack floor loading and clearances:
The procedure for calculating clearances for two-rack configurations is the same as for primary racks,
with the following differences:
The required clearances depend on the floor load rating and front clearances shown in Table 5.
