Process

The X9730 Performance Module installation process

consists of:

• Installing the X9730 CX into the rack

• Connecting the new X9730 CX to the SAS

switches

• Installing the X9730 PNs

• Completing X9730 PN and X9730 CX setup and

configuration

The X9730 supports a maximum of eight connected

X9730 CXs. Six X9730 CXs fit in the main rack

(Figure 1 (page 2)); the remaining two X9730 CXs

must be installed in an expansion rack (Figure 2

(page 2)).

NOTE: Add the Performance Modules one at

a time. Installation can be performed while the

X9730 is online.

2. TIP: The number corresponding to the location of the X9730 CX corresponds to the port number on the SAS switch to which the X9730 CX is connected. (The ports on the SAS switches are labeled 1 through 8, starting from the left.) For example, X9730 CX 2 connects to port 2 on each SAS switch. X9730 CX 7 connects to port 7 on each SAS switch. 3. 4. Use proper anti-static protection at all times: • Keep the replacement component in the ESD bag until needed. • Wear an ESD wrist strap grounded to an unpainted surface of the enclosure. • Touch an unpainted surface of the enclosure before handling the component. • Never touch the connector pins.
