6.0 HP X9000 File Serving Software File System User Guide (TA768-96043, October 2011)

File system snapshot replication
You can use the run-once replication mode to replicate a single file system snapshot. If a snapshot
replication is not explicitly configured, snapshots and all related metadata are ignored/filtered
out during remote replications. Replication is not supported for block snapshots.
Configuring the target export for replication to a remote cluster
Use the following procedure to configure a target export for remote replication. In this procedure,
target export refers to the target file system and directory (the default is root of the file system)
exported for remote replication.
NOTE: These steps are not required when configuring intracluster replication.
Register source and destination clusters. The source and target clusters of a remote replication
configuration must be registered with each other before remote replication tasks can be
created.
Create a target export. This step identifies the target file system and directory for replication
and associates it with the source cluster. Before replication can take place, you must create
a mapping between the source cluster and the target export that receives the replicated data.
This mapping ensures that only the specified source cluster can write to the target export.
Identify server assignments to use for remote replication. Select the servers and corresponding
NICs to handle replication requests, or use the default assignments. The default server
assignment is to use all servers that have the file system mounted.
GUI procedure
This procedure must be run from the target cluster, and is not required or applicable for intracluster
replication.
Select the file system on the GUI, and then select Remote Replication Exports from the lower
Navigator. On the Remote Replication Exports bottom panel, select Add. The Create Remote
Replication Export dialog box allows you to specify the target export for the replication. The mount
point of the file system is displayed as the default export path. You can add a directory to the
target export.
