Version 7.1.0c NOTE: This software conforms to FC standards and accepted engineering practices and procedures. Description Fabric OS 7.1.0c is a patch release based on Fabric OS 7.1.0b that includes the same hardware support, features, and fixes supported in 7.1.0b, plus additional fixes important to HP for 7.1.0c. Fabric OS 7.1.0c is FICON qualified. See the “Additional considerations for FICON environments” (page 36) section for feature details and notes on deployment of FICON environments.
There are several enhancements to features that were introduced in Fabric OS 7.1.0a. The enhancements are summarized below and explained in more detail in the section “New features” (page 5).
IMPORTANT: Fabric OS 7.1.0a is the minimum required firmware version for the HP StoreFabric SN6500B 16Gb FC Switch. Supersedes Fabric OS 7.1.0b, released April 2013. New features This section provides details on the new features and enhancements introduced with Fabric OS 7.1. See the Fabric OS Administrator's Guide for Fabric OS 7.1.0 for further details on the features in this release.
Performance optimization on FC long distance ISLs The following enhancements allow users to optimize performance on FC long distance ISLs: • Two new options for the portcfglongdistance command: to configure the number of buffers, and to configure the frame size for LD and LS modes. • Display of average buffer usage and average frame size in the portbuffershow output.
• CLI displays GE port errors through the addition of a new command gePortErrShow that shows GE ports and their statistics. • FCIP RASlog enhancements include: ◦ Improved FCIP RASlog messages in a Virtual Fabrics environment. ◦ FCIP RASlogs to be logged against the correct Logical Switch or chassis. ◦ Minimize the creation of FICON Emulation RASlog messages (applies to the FICN-XXXX RASlog messages).
• ◦ Addition of a new command to take “WWNs/PIDs” as input parameters and display the regular and special zones to which they belong. ◦ The details of the device login activities are made available to the user via CLIs. A new command nsDevLog is implemented to display the device login details. FDMI enhancements include: ◦ Additional FDMI commands.
driver 3.2.0.0 or later is required and the HBA ports must be operating at the maximum speed of 8 Gb. • Authentication support in AG mode between an AG and a switch and between an AG and an HBA. ◦ For switch to AG authentication when FCAP or DH-CHAP protocol is used. ◦ For HBA to AG authentication only when DH-CHAP protocol is used.
• Introduction of three different options/policies to fault the core blade/edge blade when the link reset threshold of a Back End (BE) port is exceeded. See the bottleneckmon CLI command description for additional details. • Indications for whether a LR was initiated by the local or remote switch. LR_IN will be set if the remote device initiates the link reset and LR_OUT will be set if it was initiated by the local switch.
NOTE: If the first ELP fails between neighboring ports, then the WWNN may not be displayed at both ends of the segmented link. • Support for TI (Traffic Isolation) zone violation handling for trunk ports. If a failover-disabled TI zone has trunk members, but not all members of that trunk group are in the same TI zone, there is a possibility of routing issues if the members in the TI zone fail.
• FICON Management Server, also known as CUP (Control Unit Port), enables host-control of switches in Mainframe environments. • Enhanced Group Management enables full management of devices in a data center fabric with deeper element management functionality and greater management task aggregation throughout the environment. This license is used in conjunction with the HP Network Advisor application software and is applicable to all Fibre Channel platforms supported by Fabric OS 7.0 or later.
4-Slot SAN Director Switch, HP DC SAN Backbone Director Switch, and HP DC04 SAN Director Switch for the HP DC SAN Director Multiprotocol Extension Blade. • 10 GbE FCIP/10 Gb FC – This license enables the two 10 GbE ports on the HP DC SAN Director Multiprotocol Extension Blade or the 10 Gb FC capability on HP SN8000B 16Gb 32-port FC Blade or the HP SN8000B 16Gb 48-port FC Blade ports. On the HP StoreFabric SN6500B 16Gb FC Switch and the HP SN6000C 16Gb FC Switch, this license enables 10G FC ports.
HP SN8000B 8-Slot SAN Backbone Director Switch platform. (The ICL 2nd POD license does not apply to the HP SN8000B 4-Slot SAN Director Switch.) • Enterprise ICL License enables the connection of more than four SN8000B SAN Director platforms within a single fabric using optical ICLs to deliver massive scalability.
Other licensing changes The capabilities associated with the Adaptive Networking and Server Application Optimization licenses are included by default on the HP StoreFabric SN6500B 16Gb FC Switch. These license are not required on HP StoreFabric SN6500B 16Gb FC Switch platform. Standards compliance This software conforms to the FC standards and accepted engineering practices and procedures. In certain cases, HP might add proprietary supplemental functions to those specified in the standards.

IMPORTANT: Although the 8/8 SAN Switch uses the same hardware as the 8/24 SAN Switch, it does not support Access Gateway because only the 8/24 switch has all ports licensed as required for Access Gateway support. Similarly, for the 8/40 switch to support Access Gateway mode, all ports must be licensed. If you are using DCFM to manage a fabric with a 2408 FCoE switch in Access Gateway mode, DCFM version 10.4.0 or later is required.

DC SAN Backbone and DC04 SAN Director blade support Fabric OS 7.1.0c is fully qualified and supports the DC Director blades listed in Table 2 (page 21). Other recommendations Adaptive Networking/flow-based QoS prioritization • Any 8 Gb/s or 4 Gb/s FC platform running Fabric OS 6.2.2e or earlier version of firmware cannot form an E_Port with a 16 Gb/s FC platform when Adaptive Networking QoS is enabled at both ends of the ISL. Users must disable QoS at either end of the ISL in order to successfully form an E_Port under this condition. Users can disable QoS using the portcfgQos --disable command.
CHASSIS, ERROR, MACE, FSS Error: fcsw0-vs: MISMATCH: component., svc.c, line: 2462, comp:FSSK_TH, ltime:2010/11/08-04:54:35:485484. • The addition of 3PAR Session/Enclosure LUNs to CTCs is now supported. Session/Enclosure LUNs (LUN 0xFE) used by 3PAR InServ arrays must be added to CryptoTarget (CTC) containers with LUN state set to cleartext, and encryption policy set to cleartext. HP Encryption SAN Switch/HP DC Switch Encryption FC Blade do not perform any explicit enforcement of this requirement.
• With Windows and Veritas Volume Manager/Veritas Dynamic Multipathing, when LUN sizes less than 400 MB are presented to HP Encryption SAN Switch for encryption, a host panic may occur and this configuration is not supported in the Fabric OS 6.3.1 or later release. • Hot Code Load from Fabric OS 6.4.1a to Fabric OS 7.0.0a or later is supported. Cryptographic operations and I/O are disrupted, but other layer 2 FC traffic is not disrupted.

• When operating in Converged Mode, tagged traffic on the native VLAN of the switch interface is processed normally. The host should be configured not to send VLAN tagged traffic on the switch’s native VLAN. • When operating in Converged Mode, tagged frames coming with a VLAN tag equal to the configured native VLAN are dropped.
• The HP 2408 FCoE Converged Network Switch does not support non-disruptive hot code loads (HCL). Fabric OS feature compatibility in native connectivity modes Some earlier versions of Fabric OS supported E_Port connectivity with M-EOS-based products. With the introduction of HP Network Advisor, DCFM has been put into sustaining mode. All platforms operating with Fabric OS 7.1.0c must be managed with HP B-series Network Advisor 12.0.2 or later. FICON support for Fabric OS 7.1.0c starts with Network Advisor 12.0.2. For updates, see the latest Network Advisor release notes. The following platforms using Fabric OS 6.4.2a, 7.0.0c, or 7.0.0d may also interoperate in a fabric with switches running Fabric OS 7.1.
