Reading a RAS System Message

An example audit message as it appears in syslog:

switchname Switch name or

chassis name,

depending on the

action; for example,

HA messages

typically show the

chassis name and

the logical switch

name.

This field displays the defined switch name or

the chassis name of the switch. This value is

truncated if it is over 16 characters in length.

Run either the chassisName command to name

the chassis or the switchName command to

rename the logical switch.

Error Description This field displays a text string explaining the

error encountered and providing parameters

supplied by the software at runtime.

Switch name will be logged for switch components and chassis name for chassis components. For

example, a chassis name might be FWDL or RAS and a switch component might be zone, name server,

or SNMP.

If you are creating an SCC_POLICY and use wild cards such as the asterisk (*), meaning all the

switches in the current fabric, these wild cards are displayed in the audit error message.
