Overview
Use these installation instructions to install the optional
HP SN8000B Inter-Chassis Link (ICL) cable (64 Gb
QSFP) to connect up to six SN8000B Director chassis.
These instructions provide basic setup instructions. For
detailed configuration information, see the HP
SN8000B 8-Slot SAN Backbone Director Hardware
Reference Guide, the HP SN8000B 4-Slot SAN
Director Hardware Reference Guide, and the Brocade
Fabric OS 7.0.0 Administrator's Guide, available on
the HP Manuals website:
http://www.hp.com/support/manuals
From the Manuals site, under storage, select Storage
Networking, and then select your switch.
ICL license
An ICL license (part number TC351A) is required to
use ICL ports. You must install an ICL license on each
interconnected Director switch before you connect the
ICL cables.
A single license enables all ICL ports on an
SN8000B 4-Slot SAN Director.
A single license enables half the available ICL
ports on an SN8000B 8-Slot Director. You must
purchase an additional license to enable the other
half.
ICL licenses are ordered separately. To obtain the ICL
license keys, follow the instructions on the License
Entitlement Certificate.
NOTE: After adding or removing ICL licenses,
all ICL ports must be disabled and then
re-enabled using the portdisable and
portenable commands respectively.
Installing ICL cables
NOTE: When ICL cables are not in use, ensure
that the ICL ports have electromagnetic
interference (EMI) plugs installed.
