1 Introduction This section provides an overview of the Symantec OpenStorage (OST) plug-in and the HP OST v2.0 plug-in. • “Overview” (page 4) • “Terminologies” (page 4) Overview OST is a Symantec backup interface that allows intelligent storage devices, like the HP B6200 StoreOnce Backup System, to work with Symantec's NetBackup (NBU) software. OST provides NetBackup administrators with advanced capabilities, such as optimized duplication and Disaster Recovery (DR) copy creation. The HP OST v2.
2 Prerequisites for the OpenStorage (OST) plug-in This section describes prerequisites for the media server that should be considered before installing the HP OpenStorage (OST) plug-in. • • Operating Systems ◦ SUSE10.x (64-bit) ◦ SUSE11.x (64-bit) ◦ RHEL5.x (64-bit) ◦ RHEL6.x (64-bit) NetBackup Versions The HP OST plug-in works with the following versions of NetBackup: 7.1 and 7.5 NOTE: In this document, all NetBackup paths assume that the backup application is installed on the /usr/openv drive.
3 Configuring the StoreOnce Backup System • “Supported HP B6200 StoreOnce Backup Systems” (page 6) • “Creating CatalystStores” (page 6) • “Client-side de-duplication configuration” (page 9) Supported HP B6200 StoreOnce Backup Systems The HP OST plug-in is supported on the HP B6200 StoreOnce Backup System, by using the HP StoreOnce Catalyst Client-side interface. HP B6200 StoreOnce Backup System software should be upgraded to the latest version.

This is a known problem with NBU.
